Railways of Portugal
Apart from a handful of industrial locomotive portraits mainly at Mason & Barry, and a few of various alternative means of transport, all remaining pictures in this show depict CP operations. All narrow gauges lines extant in the 1960s are covered although the Tamega line just creeps in with a single shot at Livraçao. The broad gauge photographs are concentrated on the Minho & Douro division where steam working lasted the longest but there are again a handful of scenes at Barreiro & Entroncamento including one of the former Beira-Alta Railway 4-8-0s on a train at the latter. All pictures were taken in the 15 year period from 1964 to 1979 apart from a couple of more recent views of the closed stations at Barca D'Alva & Duas Igrejas
The following photagraphers contributed pictures for this show : Tony Bowles, John Champion, Dick Courtney, Norman Glover, David Mee, Vitor Pedro Nunes, Les Perkins, Basil Roberts, Mike Squire & Greg Sutherland. A few examples of their contributions are shown below.
