Much has changed in sixty plus years since the formation of the RENFE. Most of the photographs in the preceding pages cover the era of steam operations which is itself long passed into history. Many of the secondary lines operating in that era have since been closed; but the standard gauge has also re-established itself in the country in a big way with the construction of the new high speed AVE routes.
