Railway Photograph Collections
An arrangement is now in place whereby The Kidderminster Railway Museum will market & supply prints from photographs in our collection alongside their own activities with their far larger catalogue.
A close working relationship between the two organisations was formed when the RAT adopted the well-established computer-based documentation system that the Kidderminster Railway Museum have had in use since 1990. Now that the RAT catalogue has built up to substantial proportions, it has been agreed that it would be beneficial to both organisations if the marketing of the collection is done jointly with KRM.
While the majority of the KRM collections are black and white images, our Trust has a higher proportion of colour material.
How to search and order

Please note that the search systems used by both RAT and KRM operate on key words such as locations, locomotive numbers and dates so it is best not to ask for ‘all stations between Euston and Rugby via Northampton’ as that will result in a lot of research time for ourselves. It is helpful to us if you list your requirements individually (eg each of the stations between Euston and Rugby) and it therefore saves a lot of time at our end as we then only have to interrogate the database.
Once a request has been received you will be sent via the internet free of charge small copies of any relevant photographs at low resolution to show what is available, and from which orders can be placed. You will also be sent a price list and order form. If you have any questions prior to ordering as to the condition of the slide or negative. then you are most welcome to ask. Naturally it will help if you are on broadband but often the files are not very large and dial up services can handle these uploads.
If you would rather not email, you can click here for a request form which you can print, fill in and send by post. The small low resolution prints, price lists and order forms would then be sent to you as hard copy via the postal system.
Orders generally will take 3–4 weeks from receipt unless a rush order is specifically requested, in which case there will be an extra charge payable. Please note that this service is run by volunteers and hence the time quoted, although we will endeavour to supply your photographs as quickly as possible. All orders are dispatched in hard backed envelopes and all cheques will only be presented upon dispatch of your order.
Unless requested otherwise, the image will fill the paper size. This could result in some element of cropping from original 35mm transparencies and negatives. If the total image is required, then there may be a margin where the maximum size of the paper is not used.
With the RAT collection, Kidderminster Railway Museum is now able to offer detailed search facilities on a joint collection of some 128,000 photographs. The collections are continually growing and are there to be used – please do so. Thank you.
